Detailed version

Article 1 - Diversity, inclusion and quality of life

The Devoxx France Conference, through its history and the diversity of its members, has been built on the fundamental principle of diversity. Devoxx France is committed to promoting a respectful, inclusive environment that is conducive to the personal and professional development of each individual, each member, as an essential contributor to the success of the conference. Devoxx France categorically condemns all forms of discrimination during and outside of the conference. Devoxx France does not tolerate any disparity in its decisions based on race, skin colour, beliefs, religion, nationality, origin, age, sex, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, marital status, pregnancy or disability, and complies with the law in all its aspects.

Discrimination is a criminal offence (Article 225-1 et seq. of the Criminal Code). Any discriminatory behaviour during the conference will therefore be prosecuted and punished on this basis before the national courts. The perpetrator is liable to imprisonment and a fine.

Article 2 – Prevention of all forms of violence

Devoxx France is committed to maintaining a safe and healthy environment. Dangerous, abusive, violent behaviour, or the threat of such behaviour, is strictly prohibited and will not be tolerated under any circumstances, either during the conference or during the organisation and preparation phases. Devoxx France ensures compliance with safety laws and regulations, with reasonable conduct in all circumstances. It ensures that all staff and employees are informed of the measures to be taken in the event of an emergency. Weapons, including firearms, are not permitted on the premises where the Conference is held. Devoxx France strictly prohibits the sale, possession, distribution or use of illegal substances, as well as the misuse of prescription drugs at the conference venue. It is strictly forbidden to work under the influence of drugs, alcohol or other substances that could compromise the ability to work safely and effectively, or even to possess them at the conference venue. However, alcohol consumption may be permitted in a responsible and moderate manner at events organised or authorised by the organisers.

Any form of harassment is categorically unacceptable, whether perpetrated by a member of the organising team, a speaker or a visitor. Harassment is defined as abusive and degrading behaviour, including verbal abuse, sexually explicit or offensive comments or images, non-consensual physical contact, and inappropriate or offensive gestures or remarks. Harassment, whether sexual or otherwise, is a criminal offence and is therefore punishable by the Criminal Court and may result in imprisonment and fines (Article 222-33 et seq. of the Criminal Code). These actions must not have been solicited or encouraged by the person targeted, and the latter must legitimately consider them to be unwanted or offensive. Acts of harassment can also take the form of bullying, whereby a person or group of people seeks to intimidate, demean, humiliate or destabilise colleagues. These situations may arise during the conference, outside the conference, or even via internet platforms. This prohibition and prevention policy applies to all forms of harassment. If the organisers deem it necessary, appropriate measures may be taken against those responsible for the harassment, even in the absence of specific legal provisions in favour of the person being harassed.

Article 3 – Prevention of conflicts of interest

Devoxx France is required, as part of its professional and ethical obligations, to prevent conflicts of interest and to promptly notify any such risk should a conflict arise. A conflict of interest arises when a person or entity is involved in situations where their personal or financial interests could compromise their objectivity, impartiality or duty to another party. Devoxx France must avoid such situations and, where applicable, disclose any direct or indirect relationship that could compromise its ability to form partnerships in an objective and independent manner. In the event of a potential conflict, the organising team works with its partners to find ethical and fair solutions.

Devoxx France strives to establish personal relationships with its partners, fostering a friendly atmosphere. However, it is imperative to remember at all times that these relationships remain professional in nature, with boundaries that must not be crossed. Particular vigilance is required to avoid offering, giving, soliciting or accepting gifts, entertainment or other benefits of any kind with the aim of unduly influencing the partner's professional decisions or activities, or the behaviour of the organising company and its members. However, appropriate corporate gifts that comply with applicable laws and the policies of both the giver and the recipient are not considered acts of corruption. In order to avoid any interpretation of corruption in the exchange of corporate gifts, certain conditions must be met. In particular, the gift must be of appropriate value, comply with the policies of both the giving and receiving companies, not be linked to undue influence over decisions or activities, and be approved and disclosed. It is imperative to exercise sound judgement in assessing whether a proposal could be inconsistent with these principles.

Article 4 – Data protection

The protection of personal data is of crucial importance. In Europe, this is regulated by the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). This data includes various elements that can be used to identify or locate individuals, such as dates and places of birth, names, postal addresses, email addresses, driving licence numbers, national insurance numbers or any other means of national identification, including social media accounts and data associated with these identifiers. Devoxx France is committed to managing personal data responsibly, in strict compliance with all applicable laws, regardless of the country in which such data is collected, processed or used. The collection and use of such data shall be carried out solely for professional purposes.

The use of information systems and various resources during the Devoxx France conference is strictly limited to legal purposes on the one hand, and professional purposes on the other. It is strictly forbidden to use them to communicate or consult discriminatory, sexually explicit, inappropriate, offensive or untimely documents. Furthermore, the use of these resources to play online games, download entertainment software, download unauthorised media, or store music or video files other than those specifically authorised for personal use is prohibited. Under no circumstances may computer systems be used to carry out activities involving the illegal and unauthorised distribution of online content or violating intellectual property rights or provisions of the criminal code, whether or not they impact the rights of an employee or partner. If the organising company provides a third party with a computer, mobile phone or other portable technology, it is imperative that it be used appropriately, in strict compliance with current policies.

Article 5 – An environmentally friendly conference

Devoxx France recognises the importance of sustainable development. As such, the organisers have adopted an eco-friendly approach. Devoxx France makes every effort to reduce energy consumption and the use of natural resources, as well as to promote reuse and recycling.

Commitment to environmental protection is crucial. We must integrate practices that are increasingly environmentally friendly, promoting sustainability and reducing our carbon footprint. This ongoing commitment involves implementing eco-responsible policies, encouraging the use of renewable energy sources and reducing waste.
